Decimal, Fractional and American Odds
Betting odds are written in three main formats — decimal, fractional and American (moneyline). All three express the same probability; only the way they are written differs.
Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125
If the bet wins, you get back ৳1,125 (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake). If the bet loses, ৳500 is gone.
Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. On a ৳500 stake, you get back ৳625 (৳125 profit).
In decimal format, total return = stake × odds. Fractional means the profit-to-stake ratio. In American format, a plus sign means profit on a ৳100 stake; a minus sign means the stake needed to make ৳100 profit.
